35@EightSixty
Boston, MA
The 35@EightSixty complex (formerly known as Northampton Square) is located in the South End/Lower Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, one block away from the Boston Medical Center and the Boston University Medical campuses. The complex consists of several components, including a 29-story residential and commercial building at 35 Northampton Street and a 12-story residential building at 860 Harrison Avenue. The Northampton Square redevelopment involved three main components, completed in two phases: (1) the occupied renovation of the 245-unit 35 Northampton Street, (2) the occupied renovation of the 102-unit 860 Harrison Avenue, and (3) the new construction of a shared lobby and corridor that connects 35 Northampton and 860 Harrison. In total, the project preserved 347 units of housing, all of which are affordable.
The original complex was built between 1969 and 1973 to house the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. The Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) acquired the site on July 1, 1996, and continues to own and manage the non-residential portions of the complex. In December 2010, BPHC selected Trinity Financial to redevelop various components of the site.
